Goodbye to running out of battery on your mobile: the invention that ‘recharges’ it to 100% in a matter of seconds

A new device presented at CES 2024 uses an ingenious system to always have battery power on the mobile.

Getting more battery in your mobile phone is more than just an obsession for many users: it is a necessity. If we are using our mobile phone all day, whether for leisure or work, we will find that it is very easy to use up the entire battery in just a few hours.

The frustrating thing is that the improvements in batteries and consumption are not being noticeable in the real use that consumers give it. It seems that technology has not advanced at all in several years, when the opposite is true; Android has several tricks to improve the battery, and in terms of hardware it has also been greatly improved. The problem is that modern cell phones are increasingly more powerful and have brighter screens, which all translates into greater energy consumption.

Always on battery

The solution that many people opt for is external batteries, but that comes with its own problems and annoyances; To start, you need to keep track of not one, but two batteries, and make sure that both are recharged and wait the necessary time to recharge them. Although fast charging is the aspect of batteries that has advanced the most in recent years, it still requires too much time if we are in a hurry.

A possible solution was presented at CES 2024, which reinvents the concept of external batteries. It is called Swapery, and in just a few hours it has managed to attract attention for its innovative battery exchange system, which allows you to obtain a new and recharged one in just seven seconds.

The idea is very simple and is made up of two parts. To begin with, a conventional external battery that connects to the USB-C port of our mobile phone and that can be attached to the back of the device in its own compartment. Like other similar devices, this external battery will recharge the internal battery of the mobile phone and offer us more hours of use.

The second part of the concept is the charging station, which instead of recharging the battery, exchanges the one we have for a new one; Since the batteries are stored in a dedicated compartment, all we have to do is leave the phone on the base and the spent battery will automatically be removed and a new one will be inserted that will already be fully recharged. The process lasts only seven seconds and does not require connecting cables of any kind, just leaving the mobile phone in the base for that time; so, for practical purposes, it is as if we had ‘recharged’ the mobile in seven seconds. As soon as the new battery is inserted, it will begin to recharge the mobile battery; and the spent battery will begin to charge inside the base, preparing for the next exchange when we use up the one we have.

This interesting concept can eliminate the need to charge your cell phone, at least effectively; We will no longer have to wait for the mobile to recharge because it will always have a spare battery connected. Although the press images and videos only show operation with an iPhone, in theory there should be no problems using an Android, since the battery system does not use MagSafe to attach to the back of the mobile.

There are still some doubts about Swapery, the main ones being price and availability; The official website already allows you to register for the pre-sale, but it is not clear when that will be or how much it will cost.
