iProfesional made direct contact and tested the new Samsung Galaxy S24 on Tuesday in a previous activity held in Buenos Aires by the company’s Argentine subsidiary.

The official pre-sale in developed countries will be between January 26 and 30, where users who place pre-orders will receive their units.

General availability of the Samsung Galaxy S24 line will begin on January 30 in those countries.

Samsung’s strong commitment to artificial intelligence

The Samsung Galaxy S24 represent the company’s biggest bet in the field of artificial intelligence (AI). In the previous presentation held in Argentina, Rodolfo Romeo, head of marketing at Samsung Argentina, recalled that mobile phones went through two eras this century and now the third has arrived.

The first era was that of cell phones connected to the Internet. Then came the era of powerful cameras for photography and video. The third will be smartphones that are more “Smart” than ever, powered by artificial intelligence.

Samsung even launched a new slogan, GalaxyAI, which links its emblematic brand with artificial intelligence (AI).

What is the objective of using AI in the Samsung Galaxy S24? “The mobile phone now interprets the user,” said Romeo, through Samsung Gauss, the brand’s own intelligence engine.

Developed by Samsung Research, Samsung Gauss, which honors Carl Friedrich Gauss, a German mathematician, is used for analyzing user language, code development, and for image processing but not generation.

Samsung announced an alliance with Google to combine its own development of artificial intelligence with that of the Californian technology giant.

Artificial intelligence for daily life

Artificial intelligence amplifies most experiences on the Samsung Galaxy S24 series, from facilitating barrier-free communication with intelligent text and call translations, to maximizing creative freedom with the Galaxy ProVisual Engine.

Galaxy AI introduces artificial intelligence aimed at especially improving the most fundamental role of the mobile phone: communication.

When you need to challenge language barriers, the Samsung Galaxy S24 makes it easy. For example, to chat with someone who speaks another language. Or to reserve a table at a restaurant while you are on vacation in another country.

This is possible with AI Live Translate Call, which allows real-time voice and text translation for phone calls within the native app, meaning no third-party apps are needed. On-device artificial intelligence keeps conversations private.

Messages enhanced by artificial intelligence

With Interpreter, live conversations can be instantly translated into a split-screen view, so people facing each other can read a transcript of what the other person has said. This feature can be used even without mobile data or Wi-Fi.

For messages and other applications, Chat Assist can help refine conversational tones to ensure communication sounds as intended, without misunderstandings. The assistant can distinguish situations such as a polite message to a colleague or a short, catchy phrase for a social media caption.

The artificial intelligence built into the Samsung keyboard can also translate messages in real time in 13 languages.

If you’re in your vehicle, Android Auto will automatically summarize received messages and suggest relevant responses and actions, such as sending someone your estimated time of arrival, so you can stay connected while you focus on the road.

Your personal organization can also improve with Note Assist integrated into Samsung Notes, featuring AI-generated summaries, creating templates that simplify notes with preset formats, and cover pages to make notes easy to identify with a brief preview.

For voice recordings, even when there are multiple speakers, Transcript Assist uses artificial intelligence and text-to-speech technology to transcribe, summarize, and even translate recordings.

Searches powered by artificial intelligence

Communication is not the only way the Galaxy S24 series brings the fundamental benefits of mobile phones into the future. Online searching has transformed almost every aspect of life.

Samsung Galaxy S24 marks a milestone in search history as the first phone to debut Google’s gesture-powered Circle to Search.

To give Galaxy users a new tool, Samsung turned to Google, opening up new ways of discovery with a simple gesture.

By long-pressing the home button, users can circle, highlight, scribble, or tap anything on the Galaxy S24 screen to view search results.

Seeing a monument in the background of a friend’s social media post or a fun fact in YouTube Shorts can quickly turn into a precise search for more information, without having to leave that app.

Depending on the user’s location, for certain searches, AI-generated descriptions can provide useful information and context pulled from the web, and users can ask more complex and specific questions.

The power of the cameras of the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra

The ProVisual Engine on the Samsung Galaxy S24 series is a complete set of AI-powered tools that transform imaging capabilities and maximize creative freedom at every step, from setting up a shot to posting it to social media.

The Galaxy S24 Ultra’s Quad Tele System, with its new 5x optical zoom lens, works with the 50MP sensor to enable optical-quality performance at zoom levels from 2x, 3x, 5x to 10x thanks to the adaptive pixel sensor. Images also show sharp results at 100x with enhanced digital zoom.

With enhanced Nightography capabilities, photos and videos taken with the Galaxy S24’s Space Zoom are brilliant in any conditions, even when zoomed.

Capture more light in low-light conditions with the Galaxy S24 Ultra’s larger pixel size, now 1.4 μm, which is 60% larger compared to the previous model.

Blurring is reduced on the Galaxy S24 Ultra with wider optical image stabilization (OIS) angles and improved shake compensation.

When recording video, the front and rear cameras are equipped with a dedicated ISP block for noise reduction, and it analyzes gyroscopic information to distinguish between the movement of the capturer and that of the subject. This allows for more effective noise removal and clear videos in the dark, even from far away.

Creativity powered by artificial intelligence

After capturing shots, Galaxy AI editing tools allow for simple modifications such as deleting, recomposing, and remastering images.

For easier and more efficient optimizations, Edit Suggestion uses Galaxy AI to suggest perfectly suitable adjustments for each photo.

Additionally, to give users even more creative control and freedom, Generative Editing can fill parts of an image’s background with artificial intelligence.

When an image is crooked, the AI will fill in the edges. When an object needs to be slightly moved to be in the perfect position, the AI allows users to adjust the position of the subject and generates a background perfectly mimicked in its original place.

Every time the Galaxy S24 uses generative AI to amplify an image, a watermark will appear on the image and metadata. And if an action-packed video needs to be slowed down, the new Instant Slow-mo can generate additional frames based on movements in the video to gently slow down action-packed moments for a more detailed look at the event.

To ensure every image dazzles at every stage, Super HDR displays a realistic preview before the shutter is pressed.

Improvements in hardware and software for entertainment

On all three models in the Samsung Galaxy S24 series, adaptive refresh rates of 1-120Hz improve performance efficiency.

Gaming on Galaxy is more powerful thanks to improvements in hardware and software. The Galaxy S24 Ultra features an optimal thermal control system with a 1.9 times larger vapor chamber, improving the surface temperature of the device and maximizing sustained performance power.

Ray Tracing technology enables realistic images with superior shadow and reflection effects. And by collaborating with leading partners in the gaming industry, Galaxy S24 allows users to enjoy popular global mobile games in a more optimized way.

Images are more vibrant and captivating on Galaxy’s brightest display yet. The Samsung Galaxy S24 reaches a peak brightness of 2,600 nits and offers improved outdoor visibility with Vision Booster.

On the screen, the Corning Gorilla Armor on the Galaxy S24 Ultra is optically enhanced and demonstrates superior durability against damage caused by daily scratches.

It offers a drastic reduction of light reflections of up to 75% in a wide range of lighting conditions, ensuring a smooth and comfortable viewing experience.
